A word from our president
Investing in France in candy, a product to which current right-thinking sees little future, mainly sold in mass distribution... Focus on the distribution brand, a shadowy business if ever there was one. What a funny idea, maybe even a little crazy.
However, this is the challenge that I took on in 2005 by creating Sucralliance. Starting from a modest confectionery in Yonne, driven by the desire to expand our confectionery expertise, I had the chance, as we grew, to surround myself with people as committed and passionate as me. Being a boss means, first of all, knowing how to surround yourself with others; it’s even the key to success. Alone, we achieve nothing.

Initially focused on so-called classic candies (cooked sugars, chewing pastes, caramels), the group has considerably diversified into “children’s” confectionery since 2015.
Identifying an opportunity, setting up a colossal investment project on our scale, on a technology that was foreign to us, to ultimately succeed in producing confectionery deemed better by our customers than the leading products in place, is a hell of a challenge that we collectively took on. All this with the constraint that we set for ourselves, of use only non-controversial ingredients.
This challenge of Clean label has been at the center of our concerns for more than 10 years now. Driven by our distributor customers and by consumer trends, we have removed all so-called controversial ingredients from our production and produce almost exclusively candies with natural colors and flavors.
If our know-how as a private label producer was recognized both in France and among German or Spanish distributors, knowing how to manage national brands was not an easy challenge to take on. However, the “Têtes Brûlées” brand, star of the playgrounds in 2014/15 but in decline since, has been completely revitalized thanks to the combination of a marketing, commercial and industrial know-how. Our brands now represent 30% of our turnover and they are starting to cross borders to delight European children.
Today, the Sucralliance group has become one of the European leaders in sugar confectionery, it has four factories in France, 450 employees, sells more than 30% of its production for export and produces nearly 5 billion candies per year.
We don't plan to stop there. The adventure continues with ever more enthusiasm, desire and passion, by sustainably asserting our agility of French family SME, responsible and innovative.
Michel Poirrier, CEO Sucralliance.
